Civil War Fashions

Fashions of the civil war

During the period of the Civil War, fashions were a symbol of wealth, economic status, and much more than simple clothing. Women's clothing was designed with the purpose of making them appear thin, thus a laced bodice and center front openings were common. Ornate patterns or beading showcased wealth. Men's clothing was very representative of the Victorian era. Children's clothing was made durable and served functional purposes.
