Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow Laws were a series of laws introduced to support segregation and used from 1876-1965. The laws forced schools, restaurants, even water fountains to have seperate White and Black sections. The term "Jim Crow" comes from "Jump Jim Crow", a caricature of an African American Man. It wasn't until the civil right movement in the mid-late 1960's that Jim Crow laws were removed.
