World Trade Center September 11th, 2001
In the early morning hours of September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda hijackers took control of four airplanes in a terrorist act. The planes were crashed into buildings 1 and 2 of the World Trade Center, resulting in their demolition, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. Over 3500 people were killed in the attacks. The demolition of the WTC, essentially the financial center of America, threw the country into an economic turmoil. Effects from 9/11 can still be seen today, from tightened airport security, to the Patriot Act. Osama Bin Laden, the man who claims responsibility for coordinationg and planning the attacks is still at large.
